In addition to exhibiting our own Aberdeen Angus cattle at shows nationwide, we have a strong ethos of supporting both county and local agricultural shows via our sponsorship programme.
With our headquarters situated on the Norfolk/Suffolk border, we have been major supporters at both the Royal Norfolk and Suffolk shows for many years. Latterly we have elevated our sponsorship to become exclusive sponsors of the Grand Ring and cattle housing at both events.
In 2015, we sponsored the cattle marquees at the South Suffolk show. This facilitated protection of the livestock against the elements and - as the event takes place in early May - was much appreciated by exhibitors and organiser alike. Consequently our support continues to secure the same facilities at this year’s show.
We are members of the East of England Aberdeen Angus Club and last year hosted the annual herd competition prize-giving at High House Farm, where a herd visit and barbeque were enjoyed by a group of club members.
In September, we also hosted a herd visit from the South East of England Aberdeen Angus Club and organized a stock judging competition followed by a barbeque.
Shadwell have a strong commitment to the Aberdeen Angus Society’s Youth Development Programme which is open to young enthusiasts aged between 8 and 24 years. Last year, we hosted a member’s workshop at High House Farm which gave the youngsters the opportunity to practice showing techniques and also hone their skills in preparing cattle for the show ring, under expert guidance. An interesting talk on cattle selection, a clipping demonstration and a stock judging contest made for a very educational and entertaining day.
